Parent Roles
The support and involvement of the cross country parents can transform a good experience to a great experience. The goal is 100% participation at any level for all team families.
Your athlete needs you: You can help your athlete by being supportive and acting as a good role model. Encourage regular attendance at practice; thorough training including warm-ups, stretching, running, and cool downs; adequate rest; healthy meals; drinking plenty of water. Make sure your athlete has a great pair of running shoes. Fulfill your volunteer commitments so that your athlete observes you pitching pitching in with other parents. We will volunteer at the IRONMAN Chattanooga event in September. You will also be asked to help at practices and meets. This could be organizing snacks for big meets or planning a team breakfast or dinner. Cheer for your athlete and for the team at meets. Applaud improvements, as it will surely come. At the end of season, make every effort to attend the end of season party. Your athlete will appreciate your interest in their sport.
The team needs you. We need you to pay your fees on time, as follow-up reminders are no fun for those involved. We need you to fulfill those volunteer commitments. We need you to support the coaches, their training philosophy, and their decisions. And we need you to support the parents who are handling team activities. Many hands make light work, so make an effort to contribute something of yourself.
Communication
Registration and communication throughout the season will be via the app Teamsnap. All families are required to download and use the app.
Shoes
The primary gear needed for cross country is a decent pair of running shoes. We strongly advise you to visit Fast Break, Front Runner, our Fleet Feet to purchase adequate running shoes. Shoes that are worn out or too small are not permitted and can lead to injury.
Coaches
Marcus and Crystal Faudi are the volunteer coaches for the Patriots high school team. They have coached the cross country and track team for 10 years. Both are active runners and have competed in races from 5k’s to IRONMAN 70.3
